HUMANS VERSUS NATURE (2018)

Artist Statement:

These artworks explore via abstract mark-making Humans versus Nature, which tells a history of the global environment from the Stone Age to the present, emphasizing the adversarial relationship between the human and natural worlds. Nature is cast as an active protagonist, rather than a mere backdrop or victim of human malfeasance.

Humankind is often ignorant in understanding the importance nature plays. Only by becoming harmonious with the natural world can both humans and nature be unified, by valuing the importance of nature humankind can improve. Once humans embark on a path that respects nature can humankind eliminate the harms and impacts that alienation has brought upon themselves.

This artwork explores how once humans disappear nature will regain its power. Nature will eventually consume human-made cities and roads. It is clear that by embracing nature, humankind can embark on a correct path that considers the environment and the detrimental impacts that humans have had on the environment.
