ABOUT
“Hobart-based artist Kirsty Flint captures the mystery and raw beauty of Tasmania’s landscapes through her craft.”
Kirsty with her artwork.
The emotional resonance of Kirsty Flint’s work emerges from her deceptively simple approach to illustration and painting. Through delicate linework and intuitive mark-making, she assembles Tasmania’s flora and vegetation into compositions that feel both grounded and ethereal. Using stark contrasts of black and white, she heightens impact and draws out an unexpected emotional intensity. Each painting is at once symbolic and harmonious, inviting viewers to connect their own experiences of Tasmania with the layered meanings embedded in her work. These motifs serve as quiet reminders of resilience, beauty, and connection to place.
“Creating something with its own narrative and meaning is so special. When an artwork resonates with its surroundings, it becomes a reminder to pause, breathe, and appreciate nature.”
Flint’s pieces are deeply personal, shaped by her bushwalks, hikes, and explorations across Tasmania. Though born in England, she immigrated in 2006 and considers Tasmania her true home. Having spent most of her childhood on the island, she proudly intends never to leave. That devotion is painstakingly evident in the intricate detail and affection woven into every piece.
“I’ve always been drawn to exploring the meanings behind artworks, songs, and literature. I believe that art can transform a space, lifting it into a warm and inviting place. My work is, in many ways, a love letter to Tasmania—acknowledging how profoundly it has shaped me. I hope people see my art as both a celebration of wilderness and a tribute to the beauty that defines this place.”
