ABOUT
‘Hobart-based Artist Kirsty Flint uses her craft to capture nature albeit its mystery and rawness that is so unique to Tasmania’
The deep emotional resonance of her artwork consists of a simple approach to landscape art, with Kirsty relying on linework and mark-making to piece together flora and surrounding vegetation. With a focus on Tasmania and its uniqueness, Kirsty balances contrasting black and white colours to strengthen the impact of her work and evoke emotions from her audience. Her paintings are highly symbolic, harmonious and unexpectedly emotional. The artist’s goal is to elicit an emotional connection that people can relate to from their own experiences in Tasmania, as every piece holds positive hidden meaning and symbolism, which acts as a daily reinforcement to the viewer.
‘I think creating something that has its own narrative and meaning is so special and unique, and it resonates within the space it is situated. My artwork acts as a positive reminder to relax and enjoy nature.’
A self-described ambivert, her pieces are inspired by her own bush walks, hikes and adventures around Tasmania. Kirsty is a proud Tasmanian; although she immigrated to the state in early 2006 from England, she is proud to call Tasmania her ‘true home’ after she spent most of her childhood here and plans never to leave. Her love for Tasmania is painstakingly present in each one of her incredibly detailed artworks.
